I think it was the early 20aughts when an educator told me I should be on TV, and I didn’t believe them. Enough people have told me I should be on YouTube I’m starting to believe them, and one has to start somewhere! (Yes, it’s about as risky as starting a band, but at least I don’t have to lug around an amplifier, it’s all happening in the comfort of my home.)

Took me weeks to pick a name… I’m about collecting all the hobbies, I’m a Jill of all trades, mistress of Software Engineering, the first several good variants of dabble-something were all taken. “The Well Rounded Woman” was too embarrassingly fitting… but then I pulled out my old online name of Lynn… Dabbleling… Dabble-Lynn… It’s not taken! Grab it!

I’m way better at websites than video editing so I’ll make the home for my projects before my first video upload. I already had an account for other sites, but you can visit My favorite ISP’s getting started page. (unsponsored, they’re just the best one I’ve worked with.) Nearly Free Speech is very low cost, prepaid service. It’s on the technical side, but they also have step by step guides for everything I’ve needed to do. If you aren’t technical and don’t want to learn to be technical, you might look elsewhere, but if you want to learn all things, including linux administration, ssh, phpmyadmin, database administration… NFSN is for you.

Once you have a member account with them, you get access to wordpress support page, which has almost all the steps for setting up an account. If you’ve never done this kind of thing before you’ll be opening links in new window to get the directions for lots of the sub-steps, but it is all there. If you mistype you may need help from your geeky friends to fix it, so go slow and do exactly what they tell you.

I did get an error on the first two themes I tried installing, fixed that by repeating the directions for the uploads folder on the fonts folder.

After setup, then go to your admin page, appearance, customize, and find all the settings your theme offers and play with them. Then go to Posts, delete the sample post and making new posts!
